Mpox is an infectious disease caused by the Mpox virus that can occur in certain animals, including humans. Mpox virus (MPXV) is a double-stranded DNA virus, rounded brick or oval , about 197Kb.Transmission of Mpox virus occurs when a person comes into contact with the virus from an animal, human, or materials contaminated with the virus. The virus enters the body through broken skin (even if not visible), respiratory tract, or the mucous membranes (eyes, nose, or mouth). Animal-to-human transmission may occur by bite or scratch, bush meat preparation, direct contact with body fluids or lesion material, or indirect contact with lesion material, such as through contaminated bedding. Human-to-human transmission is thought to occur primarily through large respiratory droplets. Respiratory droplets generally cannot travel more than a few feet, so prolonged face-to-face contact is required. Other human-to-human methods of transmission include direct contact with body fluids or lesion material, and indirect contact with lesion material, such as through contaminated clothing or linens.
In humans, the symptoms of Mpox are similar to but milder than the symptoms of smallpox. Mpox begins with fever, headache, muscle aches, and exhaustion. The main difference between symptoms of smallpox and Mpox is that Mpox causes lymph nodes to swell (lymphadenopathy) while smallpox does not. The incubation period (time from infection to symptoms) for Mpox is usually 7−14 days but can range from 5−21 days. Within 1 to 3 days (sometimes longer) after the appearance of fever, the patient develops a rash, often beginning on the face then spreading to other parts of the body. he illness typically lasts for 2−4 weeks. In Africa, Mpox has been shown to cause death in as many as 1 in 10 persons who contract the disease

This kit is intended to be used for qualitative detecting Mpox Virus (MPXV) in human rash fluid.
The test results of this kit are for clinical reference only. The diagnosis and treatment of patients should be comprehensively considered in combination with their symptoms, medical history, other laboratory tests and treatment response.
This kit applies the principle of real-time PCR-fluorescence probing technology which design specific primer probes with two specific conserved regions of Mpox Virus, MPXV-1 and MPXV-2 gene. The 5' of MPXV-1 gene probe is labeled as FAM, while the 3' quencher group is BHQ1 and the 5' of MPXV-2 gene probe is labeled as VIC, while the 3' quencher group is BHQ1. During PCR amplification, specific primers and probes bind to their respective target sequences. The 5' exonuclease activity of Taq enzyme cleaves and degrades the probes, so that the reporter and the quencher fluorophore groups are separated, the fluorescence monitoring system will receive the fluorescent signal accordingly. Which is, each time a DNA strand is amplified, a fluorescent molecule is formed, resulting in the complete synchronization of the accumulation of fluorescent signals with the formation of PCR products. At the same time, endogenous internal reference quality control was introduced to avoid false negatives in the test.
